Transmissions: March 2002

Living Force Campaign Director

Winter Fantasy 2002 (January 24-27) launched the second year of the Living Force campaign, in an unseasonably warm Fort Wayne, Indiana. In honor of our second year, the RPGA produced a special t-shirt with the Jedi from the cover of the Living Force Campaign Guide on the front. Of the 600+ players attending Winter Fantasy, more than 120 of them were there to join Living Force as the Cularin political arena heated up like water around a lightsaber. I'll avoid any spoilers about the trilogy ("Blinking Eyes"), since you'll be able to order it for your convention or home game day. Suffice to say, things are getting very interesting on Cularin.

We're proud to announce that we're over the 2,000 player mark, which was our goal for the first year. Living Force scenarios continue to be among the most popular in the RPGA library (second only to the Living Greyhawk Core scenarios), and you can still order any of them. If you want to play them in order, though, you'll want to do so soon, since the first trilogy, "Eye of the Sun," will be retired April 30, 2002. For more information, check out this scenario schedule for all of 2002 or this one for the last half of 2001.

Once these scenarios are retired, we'll post a story summary so that people will have a way to know what has come before.

Bits and Peaces
Winter Fantasy also saw our third full-scale interactive, "Peaces," which caps the "Blinking Eyes" trilogy. This is also the first interactive that convention organizers can order for their conventions, to be run as a companion to "Blinking Eyes." Since it resolves some plot points from the trilogy, again I'll avoid spoilers when talking about it.

"Peaces" featured the opening of Cularin's first Podracing track, which attracted heroes and celebrities from the Cularin system and points beyond. With a captive audience present, could Metatheran Cartel representative Thurm Loogg (played by August Hahn) be far behind? The gregarious Caarite wasted no time informing the assemblage that "The Cartel looooooves you!"

Naturally, Thurm Loogg was not the only politician seeking to win over the people. Hedrett's Councilor Westa Impeveri (played by Living Force Plot Director Morrie Mullins) was also busily pressing the flesh and presenting his cause. Unlike our Caarite friend, at least Councilor Impeveri wasn't booed by the assembled citizens of Cularin. Well, at least not by many of them . . .

Jaiteh Yasin (played by Sean Orwin), Twi'lek ambassador -- though to or from what, no one is quite certain -- made himself quite popular with ladies of various species (here, he's pictured with Sarah Bruner). So did man-about-Cularin and intergalactic playboy Xav Verivax (played by Sean Hanlin). Xav was seen with a variety of lovelies on his arm, and there are reports of more than one broken heart as this charmer moved from conquest to conquest.

At the same time, Ma'Haffee Shipyard (Cularin's first shipyard) opened for business. Besides a selection of "fresh from the manufacturer" ships, Ma'Haffee Shipyard boasted an excellent selection of "good as new, barely scratched" used ships (no warranty provided). Sullustan spokesman Adic Ma'an promised that ships would be delivered as soon as possible (though, to be truthful, he looked a little worried behind a stack of 33 ship orders). When contacted by comlink and asked about delivery dates and the soundness of the used ships, Wookiee partner Rowrrhaffee only said: "Grrrrwoooouuuurrrr!" which translates roughly to "Leave me alone or I will rip off your arms."

The ships available include the following. (Ships from the Star Wars Roleplaying Game core rulebook are designated CR, and those from the Starships of the Galaxy accessory are marked SotG). Prices given are for new ships; used ships are negotiable. Easy payment plans at reasonable rates are available through the finance department.

Star Wars Celebration II
Living Force will be providing roleplaying opportunities at this enormous Star Wars Fan Club convention, which will take place May 3-5, 2002, in Indianapolis, Indiana. In hopes of attracting even more Star Wars fans to our own little corner of Mr. Lucas' universe, we will be running two trilogies ("Clouds of Genarius" and "Almas, Sweet Almas"), a Living Force one-off ("An Official Engagement") and three classic scenarios set in the Rebellion era ("Child of Light" and "Soulsaber" from the "Child of Light" trilogy, which concludes at GenCon, and "Flames of Rebellion"). Characters will be provided for the classic scenarios. We'll be trying to fill 20 tables per slot for six slots and are still recruiting judges. If you're interested in judging, please email your request to me.

May the Force be with you!
